The EKN OutLap is a preview podcast show, geared at providing you the top stories, breaking news, and championship battles going into the weekend.
The 2023 United States Pro Kart Series ends this weekend as the Carolina Grand Prix hosts the fifth and final round of the championship program. The Trackhouse Motorplex is the site of the finale weekend, making it the 11th straight year for the series to compete at the Mooresville, North Carolina facility. Eight categories will battle over the weekend with Rob Howden and David Cole previewing the weekend ahead in this episode of the OutLap presented by Skip Barber Racing School.

A record setting weekend for the Cup Karts North America Grand Nationals. A total of 485 entries, featuring over 400 drivers took part in the September 28-October 1 event at the New Castle Motorsports Park. Nine categories took to the New Castle, Indiana facility to be crowned champion in Briggs 206 competition. Rob Howden and David Cole review the action from the CKNA Grand Nationals 7 in this episode of the EKN Debrief – presented by Acceleration Kart Racing. eKartingNews has launched a new program for social media and the EKN Radio Network - Face2Face. The show is broadcasted live over Facebook and YouTube, with the audio version making its way to the only 24 hour / 7 days a week radio station.
Episode 75 of Face2Face welcomed back Alan Rudolph of the Speedsportz Racing Park. The New Caney, Texas facility is slated to host the 2023 IKF Sprint GrandNationals. Competitors in 2-cycle and 4-cycle divisions will be racing for the coveted ‘Duffy’ trophy, one of the oldest and most recognized trophies in the sport of karting. Rudolph joins Rob Howden and David Cole to discuss the October 20-22 weekend.

The 74th episode of Face2Face takes us into Briggs 206 racing and the Cup Karts North America Grand Nationals 7. Rob Howden and David welcome Greg Jasperson of CKNA to discuss the upcoming September 28-October 1 event at the New Castle Motorsports Park. The 4-cycle only program is set to host nearly 500 entries in nine categories, a new event record by over 100 entries. Jasperson talks about the four-day event along with the four Divisional programs that have helped to build the momentum of the event entering its seventh year.

The second edition of the Rotax Max Challenge US Trophy Final took place on September 15-17 at the New Castle Motorsports Park. Race Rotax / J3 Competition welcomed 110 drivers in five Rotax categories, competing for victories along with 12 tickets to the 2023 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, set for December in Bahrain. The 28th running of the Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix was held over the Labor Day weekend – September 2-3 – with the city streets of Rock Island, Illinois turned into a two-day karting festival. Reaching speeds of 80mph, karts battled around the 6/10-mile street course to decide this year’s winners of the coveted ROCK trophies – including the three King categories. The Hot Seat is back, after a busy summer season that kept us away from breaking out the mics trackside. Seeking some air conditioning during the United States Pro Kart Series Ohio Grand Prix at the Motorsports Country Club of Cincinnati Kart Plex, EKN Managing Editor David Cole was able to grab series announcer and USA karting figurehead Randy Kugler. The Ohio native began as a karter himself before turning over the helmet to help guide the World Karting Association. The longtime President was around for some of the major karting events throughout the 1980s, 1990s and into the 2000s. He’s continued within the sport, providing play-by-play action for many karting events over the last decade. They discuss the past, present and future in Episode 8 of the Hot Seat.
