The midway point in the United States Pro Kart Series presented by MG Tires came on the June 14-16 weekend as the program hosted the Carolina Grand Prix at the GoPro Motorplex facility in Mooresville, North Carolina. The weekend hosted Rounds Three and Four of the championship program with perfect racing weather all three days of action. Rob Howden and David Cole break down the event in the latest edition of the ‘EKN Debreif’ - thanks to the Alan Rudolph Racing Academy. The MG Tires USA Paddock Pass is followed by the Race Report presented by IAME USA East. Two events are hosted by the USAC Karting organization during the months of July and August. It’s the busy summer season, gearing up for the third edition of the Battle at the Brickyard held on July 5-7 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Elkhart Riverwalk Grand Prix on August 9-11. Each are expected to welcome a number of grassroots racers and top level drivers/teams from coast-to-coast to experience the thrill and rareness of each event. EKN’s Rob Howden talks with USAC Karting’s Mike Burrell about each event coming up and what to expect at this year’s programs.

The World Karting Association is returning back to the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The facility that neighbors the WKA headquarters has been vacant from the organizations’ yearly schedule since 2009. The 10-year void has been filled with the upcoming Charlotte Motor Speedway Karting Challenge, welcoming the Manufacturers Cup Series, National Road Racing Series, and Speedway Dirt competing on the June 21-23. EKN’s Rob Howden talks with WKA President Kevin Williams to discuss more about the second triple-header event of 2019.

This week is the annual trip to The Park. Last year, karting patriarch Terry Traeder revived the famous Quincy Grand Prix. Its return sparked a passion for pushing man and machine to the edge around one of the most challenging road courses in North America. On June 8-9, karters will tackle the 1-mile course once again with thousands of spectators ready to camp out surrounding the layout and cheer on the intense action all weekend. The 10th edition of the 24 Hours of America will test the will of man and machine for the twice around the clock event in spec karts and those trying to reach the 24 hours in their own karts powered by Briggs & Stratton 206 engines. The ‘Operation Grassroots’ is a podcast geared solely on the foundation of the sport. The hub of the show will be discussion centered on the grassroots level of karting, from club racing to regional racing, all focused around the Briggs & Stratton 206 engine platform. Our #OperationGrassroots movement has been based around the Briggs powerplant, with the ultimate goals of bringing new people into the sport and igniting the spark of former racers to come back into what is the most economical form of karting.
One of the newest regional programs to hit the midwest area is the Buckeye Karting Challenge. A true racing series for the racers, by the racers, began in 2018 with a three-race series promoted by a group of volunteers. Racers and sponsors jumped on board and now the 2019 program opened up with its largest turnout at the G&J Kartway in Camden, Ohio. EKN’s Rob Howden spoke with Scott Smith of the BKC program to discuss its creation and the future in this edition of the ‘Operation Grassroots’ powered by Briggs & Stratton Racing.

The Superkarts! USA Pro Tour reached the halfway point of the 2019 season, hosting the 10th edition of the SpringNationals. On the May 3-5 weekend, competitors traveled to the Utah Motorsports Campus in Erda, Utah for Round Three and Four of the championship program. The weekend was full of exciting racing in the programs first visit since July 2012 to the 9/10-mile ‘Star Trek’ course. Rob Howden and David Cole break down the event in the latest edition of the ‘EKN Debreif’ - thanks to Rolison Performance Group.
