Karting is underway for the 2021 season on the west coast, as Challenge of the Americas presented by Royce & Baxter kicked off its 14th season on January 22-24. A record-breaking 130 entries for the season opener competed at the Phoenix Kart Racing Association facility in Glendale, Arizona in the 10 divisions. Colder temperatures and rain on Sunday made for a challenging two-days of racing for the opening two rounds of the winter championship. The 2021 season is here and karting is underway for the new year. The Superkarts! USA Winter Series opened up on the January 8-10 weekend at the AMR Homestead-Miami Motorplex presented by MG Tires. Over 200 entries converged on the Homestead, Florida facility as SKUSA hosted its first major event since August 2020. The ‘Spring Training’ is officially underway with competitors using the winter programs to prepare for the attack on the summer season. eKartingNews has launched a new program for social media and the EKN Radio Network - Face2Face. The show is broadcasted live over Facebook, with the audio version making its way to the only 24 hour / 7 days a week radio station.
The annual World Karting Association Daytona KartWeek was able to take place inside the Daytona International Speedway during its traditional December 28-30 time slot to close out racing for the 2020 calendar, beginning the 2021 season. Unfortunately, EKN was able to be trackside as WKA begins to celebrate its 50th season. Thanks to our new Face2Face, and the work of the staff at Margay Racing, EKN was able to connect with the three winners in the Ignite Karting Dash at Daytona program. Rob Howden talks with Ignite Junior winner Reid Sweeney, Ignite Masters winner James Perkins and Ignite Senior victor Gavin Bayliff fresh from the podium ceremony.

The 31st episode of the Face2Face program is a look at the SimCraft 24 Hours of NOLA. The third edition of the two-time around the clock endurance event moves to the NOLA Motorsports facility in Avondale, Louisiana, scheduled for November 11-14, 2021. Over 10 months until Briggs & Stratton 206 powered karts hit the race track, event promoter TJ Halsema and USAC Karting’s Jason Burgess provide us with a look into what this year’s teams can expect, with the goal of hitting 50 entries.
